Just 36 percent of Kansans polled by SurveyUSA this week for KWCH, Channel 12, said they approved of the job Gov. Sam Brownback has been doing, while 48 percent said they disapproved of his job performance.
That compares with 38 percent approval and 56 percent disapproval numbers in the state for President Obama.
Allies of the governor criticize SurveyUSA’s scientific polling for failing to be representative of the state demographically and politically. Brownback’s approval rating in the SurveyUSA polls peaked at 55 percent after he took office in January 2011, dipped to 40 percent by last fall, and has averaged 35 percent in the four polls so far this year.
