The Democratic National Committee raised $10.5 million in May, outpacing its Republican counterpart for the month and generating more money for a joint fundraising account with President Barack Obama's campaign.

The Republican National Committee said Monday that it raised $6.2 million in May.

Democratic Party officials said their fundraising totals included $6.5 million for the Obama Victory Fund, a joint fundraising account by the DNC and Obama's re-election campaign.

Obama is holding several fundraisers before the June 30th deadline for the current fundraising quarter, including events in Washington, New York and Philadelphia.
