JEFFERSON CITY -- The Democratic Governors Association gave Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon $470,000 this week, bringing the group's total investment in his re-election campaign to more than $1.5 million.
The contribution was reported today to the Missouri Ethics Commission. The group also donated $2.5 million donation to its Missouri PAC earlier this year.
Nixon also received a $40,000 donation from the Missouri DRIVE Fund, the political committee of the Teamsters union.
Last week, Nixon's Republican opponent, St. Louis businessman Dave Spence, donated another $750,000 to his own campaign. He spent $3 million of his own money to win the GOP nomination. The Republican Governors Association put $1.5 million into its Missouri PAC the day after the Aug. 7 primary.
