Missouri candidate sues paper, representative

The Kansas City Star

Jeremy Ploeger, who lost in the Democratic primary for a seat in the Missouri House, has filed a lawsuit against current Democratic Rep. Ray Salva, the company that owns The Independence Examiner and an Examiner reporter.

The suit involves stories written by reporter Adrianne Deweese. The stories included claims Salva made about Ploeger and the authorship of “Sam and Lindsay’s Law” on the Amber Alert System.

This fall, Ploeger came in third in the Aug. 3 Democratic primary for the 51st District House seat currently held by Salva. Ploeger finished behind Travis Rickey and the winner, Ira Anders.

Salva ran in the Democratic primary for the Jackson County Legislature's 1st District at-large seat and lost to Theresa Garza Ruiz.
