Democrats are pointing out this morning that Gov. Jay Nixon went undefeated in the newspaper endorsement battles.
He's 15-0, a tally that included the support of several papers, such as the Springfield News-Leader, that often backs Republicans.
One of the newspapers backing Nixon this time is the Joplin Globe in the heart of rural Republican Missouri. The paper backed Mitt Romney for president and Republican Roy Blunt for Senate in 2010.
But in the wake of the killer tornado last year, it picked Nixon this time.
From the Globe's editorial:
"Within hours of the deadly strike of the May 22, 2011, tornado, Gov. Jay Nixon was in Joplin.
"When hard oversight decisions had to be made in identifying the bodies of the dead, Nixon was there — in person — to take charge."
