Nixon names Kenney to Public Service Commission

The Kansas City Star

Gov. Jay Nixon has appointed former state Sen. Bill Kenney of Lee’s Summit to the Missouri Public Service Commission.

Kenney, a former Chiefs quarterback and two-term Republican state senator, is chief of staff for Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder.

“As a former two-term state senator and Senate Majority Floor Leader, Bill Kenney has the experience and knowledge necessary to be a valuable member of the Public Service Commission,” Nixon said.

“I am confident he will put those skills to effective use on behalf of Missouri families, businesses and communities while serving on the PSC.”

Kenney and his wife, Sandi, own Kenney Real Estate Team in Kansas City.

The five-member Public Service Commission is responsible for deciding utility rates and the promulgation and enforcement of administrative rules.

The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Missouri Senate.
