Sinquefield appears to confirm donation to Kansas anti-income tax group

The Kansas City Star

For the first time multi-millionaire activist Rex Sinquefield has confirmed his donation to Kansans for No Income Tax, a group pushing for elimination of the state's income tax.

The Kansas City Star first disclosed Sinquefield's involvement last November. At the time, the group and Sinquefield declined to confirm or comment on his role.

In an article published by Bloomberg on Wednesday, Sinquefield discusses his well-known efforts to repeal the income tax in Missouri, and his push to force votes on earnings taxes in Kansas City and St. Louis.

But the story also says this: "Sinquefield says he contributed money to Kansans for No Income Tax."

The size of the donation was not disclosed.

Kansas lawmakers are now discussing several tax-reduction proposals, although none would immediately end the state's income tax.
