UPDATED: Payroll tax cut extension splits Kansas, Missouri delegations

Democratic Rep. Emanuel Cleaver joined with fellow Missouri Rep. Sam Graves, a Republican, to oppose the payroll tax cut extension Friday.

Hours later, Sen. Roy Blunt of Missouri and Sen. Jerry Moran of Kansas also opposed the extension. Sen. Claire McCaskill voted yes. Sen. Pat Roberts did not vote.

The extension passed the Senate and went to the president for signature.

In the House, Republican Reps. Kevin Yoder, Lynn Jenkins, and Tim Huelskamp of Kansas were yes votes, as was Rep. Vicky Hartzler of Missouri, also a Republican.

Rep. Todd Akin, a Missouri Republican running for the Senate, voted no.

The final vote was 293-132. Republicans against, 91; Democrats against, 41.
