And now, representing Kansas on the floor of the Republican National Convention...
...former Congressman Todd Tiahrt as Wyatt Earp...
....Kansas GOP chair Amanda Adkins as Dorothy...
...Kansas national committeewoman Helen Van Etten as the good witch from the "Wizard of Oz."
Angling for a little attention tonight during the roll call of the states that will formally nominate Mitt Romney for president and Paul Ryan for vice president, some members of the Kansas delegation arrived at the convention hall today in full costume -- as famous characters from the state's past.
"The Wizard of Oz" will be prominently featured as will a cast of super fans from KU, K-State and Wichita State.
Tiahrt, the former 4th District congressman who lost a narrow primary race for the U.S. Senate in 2010, drew applause from delegates when he boarded the convention bus in full Wyatt Earp mode.
Earp is the legendary lawman who took part in the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral.
Boarding the bus this morning, Tiahrt said, "I want to make sure there's no vegetarians on this bus."
